Japhet School enrolls students with a wide range of intellectual experience. Japhet provides opportunities for students to express academic success based on the belief that all students possess talents and gifts. Acceptance of children into Japhet is done with great care because with enrollment comes a sincere effort to provide individualized academic support, thus encouraging students to strive for their personal best.
CONTACT: Prior to making application to Japhet School, families need to interview with our Admissions Director, Robin Pospisil, and meet the Head of School. Appointments can be made by calling Robin at 248-585-9150, or e-mailing robin.pospisil@japhetschool.org.
VISIT: We request that prospective grade-level students -- those applying for first through eighth grades -- visit the classroom in which they would enroll for two full school days. This visit allows the students to explore the classroom, curriculum, and the school culture and community. It also allows teachers to assess the academic and social strengths of each student to aid in determining the fit between school and student. Many friendships bud during these visits and it is not unusual for current and prospective students alike to want the visit to become a full-time arrangement.
Prospective students in the Preschool and Kindergarten programs are asked to visit for a morning with their parent(s). At this age, the benefits of such a visit include comfort for the child as his or her parent is nearby, and the opportunity to see that parents are enjoying the room, the teachers, and other students. This visit also provides parents with a look into the day and the assurance that their child will be taught in a nurturing environment. Lastly, teachers are afforded some insight into the type of relationship shared by the parents and child, which can provide helpful clues and strategies to use on a daily basis.
These visits can be scheduled at the time of your tour and interview, or by phone with Robin Pospisil.
