Support Japhet School

Like most private schools, tuition covers a portion of what it costs to educate each child at Japhet School. The remaining balance comes from donations, bequests, and grants. Japhet School is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, which means your donation is tax-deductible. Multi-year givers at a higher level are members of our Hands of Hope Society, who are recognized with a special reception each fall.

Ways to Give

Donate Directly
Give securely and online by clicking the Paypal "Donate" button below. Credit cards also are accepted over the phone. Gifts by personal or business check should be payable to Japhet School and mailed to the Japhet School Development Office, 31201 Dorchester, Madison Heights, MI 48071. Gifts donated directly will go to the Annual Fund unless specified otherwise.

Annual Fund
Japhet School receives no support from local, state, or federal government and has two sources of operating income: tuition and contributions. The Annual Fund allows tuition to be offered at a level affordable to more families, rather than making tuition commensurate with the actual cost per student. Thus, the Annual Fund is critical in bridging the gap between tuition and annual operating expenses. These donations are spent within the fiscal year and are not used for building projects or major capital expenditures. The benefits of a fully funded Annual Fund are the ability to:

• give individualized instruction in small classes
• attract quality educators
• purchase best-practice curriculum materials
• acquire up-to-date technology for our students and staff
• host and sponsor venues that support character education

The goal of the Annual Fund is always 100% support from families, board, and staff. The level of support is a sign of the health of a school's health, and we are grateful for every gift of every size.

Endowment
Where capital campaigns build the future, Endowments ensure the future. Endowment gifts can be a variety of donated property -- cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, and more -- and ensure long-term support of Japhet School. Endowment is not used for day-to-day operations of the school. Rather, it is the assurance that future generations will inherit the mission of this educational opportunity.

Scholarship
Many of our donors choose to have a direct impact on our students' lives by supporting Scholarship. Donations to Scholarship can support a fund that we use for need-based financial aid, or to a merit-based scholarship with grade and citizenship requirements. Some donors choose to honor an individual by sponsoring a scholarship in that person's name.

Other Giving Methods

Tribute Gifts
Donate to Japhet in another person's name and we will send your honored friend a written tribute appropriate to the occasion. It is the perfect present for the person who has everything, or a lovely memorial tribute in a person's name. Contact us to set up a Tribute Gift.

Matching Gifts
Many companies have matching-gift programs that will match charitable contributions made by their employees. When giving to Japhet School, please request the necessary matching-gift forms from your employer and include them with your gift. Depending on the program, your gift could be doubled or even tripled!

Gifts of Stock, Real Estate, and Wire Transfers
Japhet School receives gifts of assets such as securities, real estate, and personal property. Often a gift of an appreciating asset offers tax benefits to the donor. Donors are advised to consult with their own legal, tax, or estate-planning professional when considering gifts other than cash.

Bequests and Planned Giving
You can bequeath the gift of character education to future generations by including Japhet School in your estate planning. Do to so, consult your estate-planning professional.

Donor Receipt
For your tax purposes, a Donor Receipt for your gift to Japhet School is available. Please be sure to return the receipt to Japhet School in order for your financial or gift-in-kind donation to be acknowledged. (Note: We automatically send donor acknowledgments each January for the previous year.)

This one-hour, inspirational event is held at the Venetian Club in Madison Heights. It is free to attend, includes lunch, and is a wonderful way to learn from parent, student, and alumni speakers about the Japhet School difference.
